A Joyous Gift

Written for Rebecca's Haiku My Heart..

A Joyous Gift

Butterfly
sits on my shoulder;
rose wonders

Rose wonders
and I just let it;
wings flutter

Wings flutter;
ah, my eyes follow
happiness

Happiness;
my thoughts quietly form
a rainbow

A rainbow;
joyous gift of a
butterfly

Butterfly
sits on my shoulder;
rose wonders..

  11. Always very touching Haiku here. Is this a "round", as it returns to itself. I like it a lot.

    Peace

  14. Absolutely exquisite. I see the syllables are 3-5-3. Is this a different form of haiku? If so, what is it called. Regardless, I feel such great peace reading this.

  15. This must be the place.

    The linking structure is interesting, and I think you have largely accomplished what you set out to do. Haiku doesn't usually resort to personification and otherwise figurative language as often as you do here. Happiness is not actually something your eyes can follow, is it? Rather, your eyes see something – a person, a place a thing, etc. – and that makes you happy. And how would I know that a rose is wondering, even if I believe a rose can wonder? But these comments have, I think, little to do with your intention, and, as I've said, I think you have carried out your intention.
